The C*-algebra of Symmetric Words in Two Universal Unitaries

چکیده
We compute the K-theory of the C*-algebra of symmetric words in two universal unitaries. This algebra is the fixed point C*-algebra for the order-two automorphism of the full C*algebra of the free group on two generators which switches the generators. Our calculations relate the K -theory of this C*-algebra to the K-theory of the associated C*-crossed-product by Z2.

Strong Morita Equivalence of Higher-dimensional Noncommutative Tori
Let n ≥ 2 and Tn be the space of n × n real skew-symmetric matrices. For each θ ∈ Tn the corresponding n-dimensional noncommutative torus Aθ is defined as the universal C-algebra generated by unitaries U1, · · · , Un satisfying the relation UkUj = e(θkj)UjUk, where e(t) = e. Noncommutative tori are one of the canonical examples in noncommutative differential geometry [12, 2]. One may also consi...
متن کاملC-pseudo-multiplicative unitaries and Hopf C-bimodules
We introduce C∗-pseudo-multiplicative unitaries and concrete Hopf C∗-bimodules for the study of quantum groupoids in the setting of C∗-algebras. These unitaries and Hopf C∗-bimodules generalize multiplicative unitaries and Hopf C∗-algebras and are analogues of the pseudo-multiplicative unitaries and Hopf–von Neumann-bimodules studied by Enock, Lesieur and Vallin. To each C∗-pseudo-multiplicativ...

For each α ∈ (0, 1), Aα denotes the universal C -algebra generated by two unitaries u and v, which fulfill the commutation relation uv = evu. We consider the order four automorphism σ of Aα defined by σ(u) = v, σ(v) = u −1 and describe a method for constructing projections in the fixed point algebra Aσα, using Rieffel’s imprimitivity bimodules and Jacobi’s theta functions. In the case α = q, q ...

متن کاملHomotopy of unitaries in simple C∗-algebras with tracial rank one
Let ǫ > 0 be a positive number. Is there a number δ > 0 satisfying the following? Given any pair of unitaries u and v in a unital simple C∗-algebra A with [v] = 0 in K1(A) for which ‖uv − vu‖ < δ, there is a continuous path of unitaries {v(t) : t ∈ [0, 1]} ⊂ A such that v(0) = v, v(1) = 1 and ‖uv(t)− v(t)u‖ < ǫ for all t ∈ [0, 1]. An answer is given to this question when A is assumed to be a un...
